Motor Yacht Double Down
Project: Interior/Exterior Refit
Style: Relaxing Refuge
"Double Down" is a 106' Broward motor yacht formally know as Mar-bar-Liz which underwent an extensive refit inside and out in 2008. She was extended to 112' feet and there was extensive work done on the aft area to create a euro transom and elongate her length.
On the interior of "Double Down" the Client wanted to give her an extreme facelift from an old tired look from the previous owners to an modern chic comfortable gathering place for friends and family. The Client was in his 40s and frequented the New York and Miami and brought to the table a lot of ideas he wanted to incorporate. He did not like the maple woodwork and favored the darker woods which were on trend at the time.
Karen Lynn Interior Design was commissioned to design the new interior and exterior layout of the sun deck. We began by gutting the entire salon and galley including all the overhead and woodwork. We provided a new layout for salon, the galley and sundeck. We prepared carpentry drawings for all the areas to be modified and the overhead and lighting design drawings.
We tried to work with the existing wood work color as much as possible since it was not in the budget to redo all of the wood. We created intergraded window treatments in a chocolate textured material to add richness and motorized silhouette shades. We rebuilt all of the woodwork in the salon and incorporated chocolate crocodile leather into the cabinet fronts and new hardware. The new layout incorporated a new entertainment system and TV on a lift so it could be concealed when not in use and not block the view of the windows. We custom designed all of the new loose furnishings to incorporate storage and the new color palette of rich neutrals. We designed the new galley and specified and supplied all the the new appliances. We installed new granite tops, amtico flooring to finish off the galley area.
All of the heads were redone and all of the vanities refaced. In the heads, we changed all of the sinks, bath fixtures, flooring, wall coverings, mirrors and created new glass enclosures for all the new showers stalls and the master bath tub area. We redesigned the all the headboards including the headboard wall in master to incorporate new lighting and mirrors which flank the headboard and bed. The entire overhead was redone and new lighting installed. We chose plush new fabrics with a modern patterns and modern hotel bedding like look. We also selected and installed decorative sconces and lamps throughout to complete the new look.
The sundeck was redesigned to incorporate a new hot tub, a grill, and more seating and lounging areas. On the aft deck and sundeck we selected new loose furniture in a chocolate brown to coordinate with the rest of the boat and designed all new cushions using chocolate and aqua Sunbrella fabric. In addition, we also custom built and designed all of the exterior tables to offer ample entertainment and exterior dining space for all guests on board.
